We woke today to hear of the terrible storms lashing our home town, Newcastle. It set us aback and we quickly made some calls to ensure family and home were ok. Thankfully they were and we said a prayer for all of Newcastle’s well-being.
Our day today was relatively shorter than those behind us, but being on the path now for a week, was beginning to tire us. An early arrival into Viana gives us time to rest and recuperate.
The walk itself was relatively easy, but the Spanish countryside was still just as spectacular- mountains in the distance and lots of rolling hills, green with this year’s new crops.
We attended Mass this evening and received the blessing for the pilgrims in a church that was more than 500 years old. Whilst the service was in Spanish, we were greeted warmly as pilgrims on the Camino and sent on our way with God’s blessing.
We look forward to tomorrow.
Sounds like you are having a great time.Hope that fountain turns up soon.We are having fun and games here but all good.My sister Tracey starts the Camino today. Dont think she’ll catch up to you. Have fun and take care.
