Our early morning start for the relatively short hike started in the rain – our first taste of what it is like when the rain in Spain falls on the plain. Our first goal was to reach Arre – about 9.5km away. It was a beautiful wooded track along the River Agra – a delightful mountain stream.
A couple of challenging hills and descents kept us honest and made the walk a little more challenging than we expected today. The beautiful and old bridge at Arre was our reward for the hard work.
The final 7 or 8 kms was now a relatively flat walk into Pamplona. As we walked we met a little 5 year old girl and her mother walking the Camino together. She was full of life and spirit and lifted us as we began to wane after a long walk. We gave her a small toy koala to remember the Aussies she met along the way. That was the last we saw of them. We hope she and her mother make it.
