Our day starts with an informal dawn service on top of the hill on our way out of Najera.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
Lest we forget.

Our walk today takes us up another big hill to a deserted township with a world class golf course with plenty of golfers but no people in the town – very strange.

We arrive at our destination and settle in. This is the first time on our walk that my feet screamed to be released from their torture chambers, but a cold shower on them soon soothed the angry beasts – hopefully tomorrow will be better for them.

Whist exploring Santo Domingo we stumble across a First Holy Communion service at the Cathedral. Inside there is a Lego style depiction of The passion of Christ.

The town’s children are also happily painting each other’s faces blue with feathers on sticks. Santo Domingo was a lot of fun.
